Design & Drafting

We go to great lengths to provide the customer with a design that performs exactly what is needed. We will prepare submittal information such as drawings, spec sheets, and other information if needed; or we will use your existing drawings. We work closely with your engineers, operators, and maintenance people to understand the process so the installation of the new system will be as painless as possible.

When we prepare customer drawings, we try to give the customer as much information as possible. We include panel layouts consisting of the layout of components, terminal block layouts, complete electrical schematics, field connection drawings, power & motor wiring schematics, and a complete bill of material. All drawings are prepared in AutoCAD format and can be supplied to the customer in Auto CAD or PDF format. ALL control panels built have an 11" x 17" hard copy shipped with the control panel (laminated if needed).

The bill of material (BOM) is a list of components used in the construction of your panel. The BOM gives detailed information such as:

  • Item Number
  • Quantity Used
  • Manufacturer
  • Catalog/Part Number
  • Description of Component

This is useful to order replacement parts if needed.

A terminal block layout is constructed to show each terminal block set used, and the wire number that is terminated. This improves field installation by eliminating the guess work of where the field wiring goes.

As much detail as possible is shown on the drawings. This reduces the time spent on trying to read and understand the schematics. For example, the Item Number listed in the BOM is also labeled above the component in the panel layouts.

The wire numbers are generated by using the rung number where the wire originates.

A detailed legend is provided on each drawing page to explain and identify different connection points and lines. Control Systems, Inc. tries to standardize on these, but will use yours if prefered.
